1           AN ACT providing for the submission to the electors of 47
2 this State of a certain question of public policy. 49

 

3           Be  it  enacted  by  the  People  of  the  State  of  Illinois, 53
4 represented  in  the  General  Assembly:

 

5          Section 1.  There shall be submitted to the electors of 55
6 the State at the general election of November 2, 1982, the 56
7 following question of public policy:  "Should the State 57
8 increase the rate of the income tax to provide school funding 58
9 and reduce local property taxes proportionately?"
10           Section 2.  Such a question of public policy shall be 60
11 submitted in the same manner as questions of public policy 61
12 under Article 28 of The Election Code, except that no 62
13 petition is required.  The ballot shall be in the form 63
14 prescribed in Section 16-7 of the Election Code.
15           Section 3.  The result of the vote on such question of 65
16 public policy shall be advisory only. 66
17          Section 4.  This Act takes effect upon its becoming law. 68
